The Wizard Of Oz Columbus Theatre reviews
Wixard of Oz
Having seen the original movie and read all of Frank L. Baum's Oz books makes a review of this particular show a bit biased in a way but overall the show was great, the sets were quite impressive for the stage and the orchestra was outstanding. The costumes were superb and the characters all around were well played. Some distractions for me were:
1. Dorothy's voice was a bit too high for what I would have suspected.
2. Uncle Henry was a bit too stiff in the delivery of his various characters.
3. Doctor Marvel was abit too stiff as well but as the Wizard he was right on.
4. And for some reason I just couldn't get into the actor playing the Scarecrow or even
his farmhand character.
Even with those few issues I'd highly recommend this show to anyone. It is well written and follows very well with the original story and likely the original play.
